Tesco Christmas Delivery warning

If you've been invited by Tesco to book your Christmas slot, as I have, and have booked one, do not rely on your groceries coming. I have booked a 7-9am delivery on Christmas Eve, have an email to confirm it, but have just been told by a manager on the customer helpline (as I was complaining about today's very late delivery) that Tesco aren't delivering on Christmas Eve and I shouldn't have been able to have booked it. All the slots in our area have been booked already so it looks as if there will be a number of disappointed customers.

No, no. Don't get online delivery at Christmas, tis always a fool's game. Can't trust them to bring you the stuff you order. Do it yerself.

I ordered my stuff online one year with them and was due to be delivered to on the 23rd. They did, but there was no turkey, chipos, basically anything which was christmas meal. I kicked up a fuss, and the one of the managers did deliver in their own car, but not before i had got up at stupid o'clock to get turkey from M&S!!

Would never order for Christmas online again.

That's crap. Another reason I dislike Tesco. I am about to put an internet order in from Sainsburys for the Monday before Xmas. Not for Xmas things but we're moving house so will have NOTHING in. I've never done an internet order in Xmas week before.

MrsBadger · 30/11/2009 13:33

or for the turkey etc do a proper M&S or Waitrose Entertaining order, where it arrives from the warehouse with your name on and you don't have to trust store staff to elbow their way to the last pack of chipolatas for you

It worked brilliantly last year, but there seems to be a glitch in the system this one. Ours is delivered from what they call a dot com store ie a warehouse, so I don't think we suffer as much from the lack of stock that stores do, however, failing to deliver at all could be a little more than disappointing!

I did Sainsbos last year, it was delivered on the 23rd 10 mins late, they had everything i ordered and i got a bottle of wine for the lateness, i didnt and wasnt going to complain it was 0 mins but the driver brought it as a sorry.

Tesco Website for our area is only taking bookings till 20th Dec at the moment so have booked mine for 17th and then will go in at 5am on 23rd to have a look round for any things i've forgotten.

It's lovely at that time no kids, full shelves and not too many people. Home in time for breakfast!!
