K3213 - think this might only work once, so if you use it, please post to say you have so that people don't keep trying it again and again!

I was just about to order £50 worth of stuff but couldn't find a code and then they tried to charge me £4 delivery! Except they were sneaky about it and said they'd give me it free and then when you go to the next page it asks you to confirm you understand a credit account will be opened and then you will have the next directory at £3.75 a time!
I hate that tricking consumers attitude. Grrr.

HullEnzia · 16/10/2011 10:24

Ok I was making out that I didn't care etc but - I admit it - I REALLY want to order some stuff!! Come on Next, pull your finger out! your clothes are overpriced enough without charging us for the privilege of ordering them!

bossyboop · 16/10/2011 15:29

I have been watching for a code too but as there was none I looked else where for dd's dress for xmas party, found a lovely one at tesco (cheaper as well) and they were offering free delivery today too so Tesco got my money for the 3rd time in 2 weeks, got free delivery every time and £10 off twice. No incentive to shop at Next, no bargains except at sale time and thats all last season stock so never appropriate for current weather so totally pointless. I have also cancelled my directory. Also had several orders recently for george at asda and dont mind paying the £2.99 delivery charge as I usually order £35+ from them and have loads to show for my money, at Next you get 1 or 2 things for that price which is why I refuse to order when they charge for delivery, so many other retailers offer free delivery, discounts, sales on current stock etc and give me a reason to order, in fact I pop on for a browse and end up with a virtual basket full of stuff, well done to those retailers for encouraging me to buy when I didnt actually really need anything.

do you have to open a credit account hsteph?

hayleysd · 16/10/2011 16:24

Pretty sure you do have to open an account, I'll do the refer a friend too you get £10 more than they're currently offering, my email is [email protected] if anyone wants me to refer them!

UrsulaBuffayTheVampireSlayer · 16/10/2011 16:25

Next is credit account only online, this is why it is EVIL

SNOWF1975 · 16/10/2011 20:50

Its a nightmare. I also had a nice big order ready and when I couldnt find a free delivery code, I just cancelled it. They are going to be losing A LOT of business! Its amazing how much my account balance has went down though! ha

fifitot · 17/10/2011 13:38

Yup no code means I have just cancelled a £40 order too. I refuse to pay £3.99 for delivery, it is such a rip off. Especially as they never come when they say they are going to and you end up waiting in for them!

If they want the sales they should remove the delivery cost. I am sure it is counter-productive for them.

TimeForMeIsFree · 17/10/2011 14:40

I'm sure they are feeling a drop in sales. I've never had as many promotional emails from them as what I am getting now. Plus they are advertising on TV quite a lot, as well as promoting online shopping instore. We will be hearing on the news next that they have gone into administration. Oh well, another greedy store set to bite the dust!

CasaBevron · 18/10/2011 10:27

I've been watching this thread as I want to order some stuff for DD. I was hoping to get free delivery as it's my birthday tomorrow and I usually get an email with a code, but instead I've had an offer of £5 off if I spend £25. So that's actually £1.01 off once I've paid for delivery Hmm. Thanks Next, happy birthday to me!!

Needless to say I won't be ordering!

TimeForMeIsFree · 18/10/2011 13:47

Shock You get a code for your birthday?? I have never had a code for my birthday!! I have never had a code for anything, I've always got them from here, even though I have been an excellent customer for blooming years! The only way they reward me is by upping my credit limit which is now actually obscene!!

I might even go so far as to close my account now, I've managed all these weeks without it and have actually realised I use it more for the convenience rather than the fact I actually like the items. Marks and Spencers is proving to be cheaper but yet better quality than NEXT too.

TimeForMeIsFree · 18/10/2011 13:48

Happy Birthday for tomorrow CasaBevron Smile

MurderBloodstabsandgore · 18/10/2011 13:52

casa then you have got a better deal than you were hoping for? [hconfused]

glass half empty..... [hgrin]

HornySwoggle · 18/10/2011 18:08

I've also realised that I only use Next for convienience sake. I buckled the other day and decided to make an order to be delivered to the shop. Funnily enough, once I got into it there wasn't much I felt was worth travelling to the store for. I ended up with 2 items in the "basket" before deciding to just cancel it and go somewhere cheaper else.

Sod you then Next!

CasaBevron · 18/10/2011 18:28

Aw shucks TimeFor, thanks Blush!

Of course you're right MurderBloodstabsandgore but it just doesn't sound good, does it?! I suppose I am a little bit glass half-empty... Grin It just seems that they're trying to tempt me with a great offer that's actually a bit pants when you look at it Confused.

TimeForMeIsFree · 18/10/2011 18:49

Like everything NEXT sells these days, a bit pants! Grin

I'm just waiting for the announcement "Fashion retailer NEXT goes into administration" Tis sure to happen now MN'ers are shopping elsewhere.

CasaBevron · 18/10/2011 20:09

Oh I wouldn't want them to go under, I like my VIP slots too much!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/10/2011 20:49

CasaBevron - what a brilliant username!!

CasaBevron · 18/10/2011 21:13

Ooh can I turn this into a mutual love-in and say I've always wished I'd thought of yours before you?!

tassisssss · 18/10/2011 22:20

The free next day delivery was so fab. I'm gutted it's stopped but like others will now probably be more likely to shop elsewhere.

UrsulaBuffayTheVampireSlayer · 19/10/2011 11:11

Have paid off & closed my account- feel so relieved!

HornySwoggle · 19/10/2011 18:33

H&M is looking more appealing to me now Grin I know their online service is shit but I'm willing to travel to the store since the clothes don't tend to be over-priced to start with unlike next

Chestnut779 · 20/10/2011 12:40

I am sure everyone is aware, but i just wanted to mention, that if you have a Nectar card you can onto the Nectar website and get points when you shop with Next, and if you are like me, the points soon add up!! :)

FluffyDavis · 20/10/2011 14:23

I didn't know that chestnut!
I always shop through the giving machine though.
