Is it easy to switch? I am with British Gas atm and need to decide whether to switch, but I can't cope with hassle and confusion. I need to be able to do it online as I am temporarily outside the UK, different time zone, very expensive to phone.

@comfyoldcardi it took me 2 minutes! It’s so easy to do just by filling in the form. It helps if you have your annual usage for gas and electricity (you can get these from your British Gas Bill).

@Decafflatteplease it’s £50 credit so can only be used against your energy use. Sorry should have made that clear!

We have been with Shell Energy for several years and they have now been acquired by Octopus so unfortunately I don't get the chance to have the £50 switch reward :-(

@daisychain01 ahh gutted, so I managed to switch about 4 days before they went over thanks to another thread on here!
