Drybrook Spa Shrewbury) and Groupon

Has anybody had any dealings with the above company? It is a complete rip off but Groupon have told my eldest son (who has now just gone off to uni) that they will only refund him in Groupon vouchers (£60.00). This was originally bought as a surprise gift for his girlfriend before he went off to uni and he would like to get her something else. Has anyone else been refunded in vouchers or have you had a full refund? Vouchers are of no use to him at all.

I rang them the other day, hung on for half an hour and was then cut off!! I have contacted Groupon and asked them to end my membership. Certainly looking forward to not receiving e-mails about fish who will eat mine (and everybody else's) dead skin.

I've used Groupon on loads of occasions and never had any problems, I do always look at the normal prices of what's on offer and reviews before making a purchase.

Friend had her money refunded once after purchasing a massage for herself & her DH on trip to London, further research showed the massage parlour to offer quite a bit more more than a massage!

As you say, on the whole Groupon is a good experience - we booked the week's stay in Tenerife and it was excellent, plus a few meals out. However, I am just a bit worried that if the offer does go pear shape, you could end up being refunded in vouchers and not money.

To be fair you've changed your mind, there isnt a fault, they've offered you a refund of credit so you can still use if for something else.
I couldnt get a date for my groupon spa as the woman was only doing bizzare time slots and they did the same for me - not her fault I couldnt do the slots (as hadnt booked straight away) but not my fault that not full times available. I thought they were pretty reasonable to offer me thatm had been expecting nothing...

You might want to have a look on their FB page - she has deleted the dozens of complaints made but if you look on the comments on the right hand side you will see how shoddy an operation it is. Apparently, the original photos that were put on Groupon were of a local hotel spa and not hers. (I was told that by somebody who lives in Shrewsbury) We couldn't even get hold of her to rebook.

After all, if it was an item costing hundreds of pounds would you still feel that vouchers instead of cash refund were appropriate?

We bought a Groupon voucher for drybrook in July 2011. It took me a few weeks to get through on the phone, it always went through to answerphone and no-one ever rang me back- but I eventually booked an appointment for 6th November 2011. I travelled 2 hours, only to arrive at what looked like someone's house having building work done it to, there was no curb appeal at all, only a huge rubble carpark surroounded by broken fencing. It did not look or feel welcoming at all. I stopped and sat in the car for a while as I really thought I had got the wrong place. A I walked to the entrance i spotted a scribbled note on the door telling me the spa was closed! I couldn't believe they hadn't called or emailed to let me know the day before. On further inspection of the property, I was appalled they could even call themselves a spa. The house was next to open waste land, an absoloute eye-sore, but the gardens at the side of the house (if you can call them that) were awful. Rotting wooden decking area, broken chairs left lying around, broken gym equipment abandoned, rotten window frames, filthy windows, half empty cans of creosote, piles of paving slabs, unkept brown lawn, a lawn mower left to rot in the overgrown thorny hedges, dirty windows to a pool area inside, a shabby conservatory/lean too with mouldy windows, a smashed window on the second floor taped up with gaffer tape, curtains hanging of their rails, and further on at the back of the house, in what was described an as 'orchard' was one dying fruit tree amongst a dumping ground of old play equipment, broken fence through to next door, more piles of paving slabs....the list is endless. I felt unsafe and uneasy looking around and really couldn't wait to get back in the car and leave. Do not waste your money or your time going here. It is hazardous to health and needs shutting down. I think I had a lucky escape with the 'spa' being closed and did have a very nice day shopping in shrewsbury instead. Much more relaxing. I got a full refund from Groupon and £20 credit put on my account.
