Does anyone know what the chances are to get into Reeds on an occasional place?

We didnt apply as missed the deadline. Completely gutted.

I have no idea, but for most schools it is pretty good. Maybe not in year7 but get on the waiting list for year 8

Thank you for your reply. I would love there is anyone who is connected to reeds school to reach out?

i wonder how they are finding year 7 and if anyone in the school is hoping to move once they get there prefered place.

Easy, unless it's Eton, there are places everywhere these days. Reeds isn't exclusive.

OP I don't think that anyone on the threat can help you UNLESS they work in Reeds admissions dept, which is pretty unlikely. I would suggest contacting Reeds again to ask them exactly the questions you're asking here. Our admissions dept would definitely talk you through it, including sitting an alternative entrance exam etc.

Would it go in my favour if i spoke to the head, from uour experience?

They have an open day next Saturday. Book a place, and you will be able to have a face to face conversation with the Head and the admissions staff

I think the next poster is correct - go to the open day and speak to both admissions and the Head. Good luck.

Phone them. I suspect they’ll be very helpful. As they are taking girls from next Sept they must be struggling (as everywhere is) to be at capacity. They’ve always been proudly single sex (apart from 6th form), funny how they now think co-ed is the way forward just when the Indy sector is struggling overall.

Our school often has children sitting entrance exams outside of the normal times now to potentially fill a mid year place if they have one.

I have phoned and they said they are full and have a waitlist

Most likely because they are full for the number of classes they have planned for and the number of staff they have to cover them. There is always a tipping point - schools will add an extra class if they have enough students to make it worth it (not just a small handful) and can cover with staff.
If you are super keen stay on the waiting list and someone might leave (happening a lot in the independent sector at the mo) or they may get enough to make a new class (more likely next year as it may depend on staffing which is generally longer term planning)

Ask to go on the waitlist?

LIZS · 05/09/2026 16:13

Do they offer 13+/year 9 entry?

This whole conversation / thread seems weird to be honest! Excuse me for getting whiffs of suspicion…
