Any recent insight into St Christopher’s Hampstead for prospective parents esp pupil numbers and staff?

Hi, I am a prospective parent for St Christopher’s Hampstead, my daughter will be doing the 4+ at the end of this year / early 2027.

does anyone have any insight into this school? I have been looking at the exit results and in 2026 there was only 27 pupils but in 2025 they had 37 pupils. Is there a reason for the drop in number? I appreciate this could be due to reasons beyond the schools control such as VAT. Also I have noticed the results in 2025 seem much better than 2026 numbers.

I have an additional question regarding staff and the headmistress - I have heard that there has been changes to the staffing team in the last 1-2 years? How has that been and any impact to teaching quality?

Greatly appreciate if anyone has any insight into this school. Thank you

Hi, recently attended an open day at St Christopher’s but found the headmaster Mr Maddocks quite uninspiring and not confident at all. His speech included nothing about any vision or plans for the school and he seemed very nervous during the speech. We liked the school, mainly due to the way the pupils spoke of it and the early years teachers we met, however I worry that if I send my daughter here and she needs someone to advocate for her at 11+ eg. If she had a bad day on the exams (unwell or a family emergency), whether he has the proactiveness, gravitas and confidence to actually step in to help. Would love to hear from current parents with daughters at the school how they have found him, or any friends of current parents there. Also if anyone knows of any refurbishment plans that would be interesting to know, we found most classrooms quite stuffy and dated.

We find it to be an incredibly happy and warm school.

Headteacher is really wonderful with the girls - knows them and cares about them. Was in charge of the senior school process when he was Deputy Head, and I would definitely trust him to go to bat for my daughter.

Very nice parent body - not uber competitive.

I’ve been very happy with my decision. But you should choose somewhere you feel good about.
