Experiences of private prep schools in Woodford and Buckhurst Hill

Hi everyone,
I’m in the process of choosing a primary/prep school for my son in the Woodford/Buckhurst Hill area and would love to hear from anyone with direct experience of any of the following schools:
• Daiglen School (Buckhurst Hill)
• Avon House (Woodford Green)
• St Aubyn’s (Woodford Green)
• Woodford Green Preparatory School
• Loyola Preparatory School
My son is a bright, sensitive and warm little boy who thrives in calm, nurturing environments with smaller class sizes. He takes a little time to warm up in new settings but comes alive once he feels comfortable and secure. I’m particularly interested in:
• How warm and nurturing the school culture really is day to day (not just on open days!)
• Whether quieter, more introverted children are noticed and supported
• How confident and well-rounded the children seem by the time they leave
• Pastoral care and communication with parents
• Anything you wish you’d known before choosing
Any honest experiences — positive or negative — would be really appreciated. Thank you so much in advance! 🙏

You’d be better off joining one of the local facebook groups as there are many, many discussions on there about these schools.

What age to start?

All are pretty good - some are oversubscribed - have you already signed up for any of them?
