Any experiences of Bede's Senior School / information on the new Upper School?

Looking at Bede's Senior School for DS. He's average academically (stronger in Maths / Science, weaker in English) and reasonably sporty (but not elite level). We visited on an open day and both liked it (including the fact that it's not a hot house / could help him find his niche). Would love to hear from anyone with experience of the school.

Slightly concerned by yet another large fee increase recently announced though. And a bit puzzled by the announcement of a new Bede's Upper School in Eastbourne (which will apparently be cheaper?). Would be great to hear from anyone who has inside information on this!

DS is at Bedes Senior and we've been happy with it. Staff are very kind. They are responsive and will work around any problems and try and support. Huge range of activities, so lots of different things to try out. 'Academy' sessions with subject teachers run after school, so students can get extra help or just do prep. The new upper school in Eastbourne is an extension to the existing Prep, which is small but in an absolutely fabulous location. Strong on pastoral support. Could understand some parents who have had children at the prep wanting to keep their children there. PM me if there's anything you would particularly like to discuss.

Do proper research before you decide.

Name change so I don’t identify where my DC goes to school but they went to Bedes for Sixth Form and we are incredibly impressed.

Yes the fees are high compared to previous school but it’s superb academically (DC went from a C to an A* in A Level subjects in less than a year). Pastoral care is superb. Sports and Performing Arts are excellent.

The staff are incredibly kind and caring and the children we’ve met through DC have been absolutely lovely. DC has thrived and it has been worth every penny. We’ll be sad to say goodbye to the school in the summer.

edited as last line isn’t showing in the app but hoping edit will fix this!

That all sounds really reassuring - thank you!
