My son is 11, is Autistic and has ADHD, he is very accademially able. We live in Leeds. He would not cope at all in a large state secondary, the sensory environment and class sizes would be too much. We opted for a specialist and they are just not able to meet his academic needs he has no peer group as most of the other children are not working at age related expectations. We think that private is the best option for him to get the education he needs and deserves. We have no experience of private schooling and noone to advise, so any help gratefully recieved.

Gateways is a lovely school (I've never visited Woodhouse Grove cant compare) and about half the size if you feel a smaller school would suit.
Both have around roughly 20% SEND. Have you visited both?

Thank you for your reply. We are going to an open morning at Gateways in a couple of weeks. We've not contacted Woodhouse Grove yet, as they have no open days coming up. Once Easter is over we will arrange a visit. I'd not even heard of WG until a few days ago.

Private school should be happy to do you a tour any time so if you need more information, or another time, or an indepth chat with SENCO etc then just ask.
Hope Gateways goes well, they have a lovely school dog and good refreshments at their open days so it'll be a nice day!
