Bursary and Exam fees

My son joined a private school for 6th form on a full bursary for fees and boarding. He excels in a sport. As a single working parent l am extremely grateful that the school has afforded him this fantastic opportunity, one we don’t take it from granted. That said this morning I’ve received an invoice for his upcoming A level exams, which was a shock to be honest, so wanted to ask whether this was the norm for a student on a full bursary. Offer letter simply states tuition and boarding.

Ime v normal

ouch. It’s normal, but it would have been kind of the school to let you know the kinds of costs the bursary didn’t cover eg trips, uniform, food, exam fees or bus fare etc

DD was on a 100% bursary. Her school paid her exam fees.
