King Edward’s Witley v Barrow Hills v Longacre School

I am considering these schools for my DD, Form 7 entry. I’d like her to continue to Sixth Form, we are moving from abroad to Surrey hence the late interest. I understand they are part of the Bridewell Trust.

Does anyone have an opinion on these schools - what are they like educationally, pastorally, for sports? Are they in financial difficultly (how have they coped with the VAT), and what does the long term forecast look like?

Hi personally I wouldn't go near the Bridewell trust schools. I am a Longacre parent. See the thread "Longacre Closing".

Hi, thanks for replying, I’ve just read the thread. With regards to Barrow Hills and King Edward’s, is there threat that they will close too? Can you provide some back story / history of what happened with Long Acre?

Hi, i can only speak on king Edward’s Witley, I would say the education and sports are fine, not much wrong there although there are occasionally teachers who do absolutely nothing and set students back academically, in the sports department there is also heavy favouritism and emotional teachers. Pastoral isn’t great, although it is a diverse school I have to warn that I have personally witnessed a foreign student be made fun of, excluded and made fun of because of their culture. Pastoral isn’t always great there, I would say a lot of the bullying policy is performative and not cared about. If you’re moving to Surrey, I’d rather suggest charterhouse (much more expensive and much more academic though), cranleigh (solid option, nice location)
