prep school did a round of redundancies at end of last year and staff from core subjects were cut (maths and english). now we are hearing that teachers in those subjects are quitting and have to assume its linked. should we be worrying that its core subjects that have been cut?. what questions should we be asking the school.
where are other schools seeing cuts after vat?

Is your child getting fewer maths and English lessons?

I’d guess pupil numbers. Schools have to staff according to pupil forecast, and this time of year is when schools are planning for numbers in September. They might be redundancies but you just don’t know that? Prep schools everywhere are struggling for numbers at the moment.

I suspect the school is in a financial knife edges. Prep schools are taking the brunt of the VAT and pension contribution increases - if you look at the news quite a few have already had to close. If teachers are leaving it’s probably because they can see their jobs are not secure.

Is it a standalone prep that doesn’t belong to a group or have a link to a senior school?

Reeves strikes again.
