Churcher’s junior school waitlist is there any hope…?

Just wondered if anyone knows what the chances are of getting a place for year 3 or 5 if waitlisted after assessment day and offers? Also I know offers need to be accepted by March but typically how quickly do people accept or decline?
How does Amesbury compare as without the senior school results it’s hard to know if they’re academically as strong?

There won't be much prior experience of the wait list position for year 5 as this academic year is the first one that Churcher's expanded in Year 5. Prior to that, there was only space if someone left. People applying for year 5 are probably fairly set on the senior school so my guess is that they would accept their place quickly.
At Year 3, people may have applied to a few places as it is a common time to move, so the wait list might move more. You could ask the school for information on where you are on the list, tell them you are keen if a place comes up etc. That seems to be the usual advice for wait lists.

Our children are at Amesbury as we wanted a prep rather than an all through school. We - and more importantly they! - couldn't be happier. Children go on to Churchers, GHS, RGS etc amongst many other schools every year, and we're very pleased with the academics and stretch at Amesbury, along with everything else the school offers.

Do send me a DM if you want more info.

Thank you that’s helpful as I hadn’t realised this was the first year they’d expanded at year 5. We’ve been speaking with the school about year 3 and they’ve given us reassurance a place could come available but there’s no guarantee so just wanted to know if anyone had been on the waitlist and still got a place and if so how long they were waiting…

Amesbury is quite academic, children went to 21 different senior schools last year including all the usual very academically selective ones. Did you see the news that Amesbury is joining the Charterhouse family of schools? A fairly good endorsement for the academics.

Its only churchers, plenty of other good options, shop around.
