  1. How far do you travel for private prep school (age 3/4-11)?
  2. What time to you leave in the morning?
  3. What method of transport to you use? Car, walk, train?
  4. What is the typical travel time radius in your private prep?

For us, it seems like a 15 min one way drive (25 mins in morning traffic) for a great school in the area. Of course a short walk would be ideal, but the school was so good which I think is of more importance. It seems like this travel time radius is pretty common for this particular school in Greater London.

We travel 25mins, leaving (from this year) at 7.35am. We walk 10ish mins to the tube, 2 stops (4mins) and then a 5 min walk on the other side roughly. We drop our two older ones at two different buildings that open at 8 and 8.15 respectively and then return to the same tube stop and carry on in the same direction to the office. Not sure how far others travel- some live a stone’s throw from the school, others a 30min drive away. So far so good this (school) year - the children are bouncing out of bed and it’s dry and light when we leave the house… November will be a different story, I’m sure! We drive (c.10mins, 15 coming home) on Fridays as WFH.
