Hi all,
I am in Y9 and my mum and I are looking to move me for Y10 starting from Y10 in 2026 and we are looking for a school with exceptional pastoral care and good academics. We also do not mind sending me boarding, so any boarding school that is also good we will happily look at! Which of these following schools would deliver these out of this list:

St Catherine’s Twickenham
Radnor House
Knightsbridge School
Thomas’s College
St Augustine’s Priory Ealing
Kew House School
Kingston Grammar School
Streatham Clapham High School
Queens’s College
Claremount
JAGS
Alleyns
CLGS
St Benedict’s Ealing
St Margaret’s Hampstead
Epsom College
North Bridge House

If it's affordable and you're local enough, then St Augustine's Priory. I'd send my DD there in a heartbeat if I could and we're not even Catholic.

Second Francis Holland.

I think it’s wonderful that you are taking such a proactive approach to finding a new school.
Have you considered Eastbourne College? Their pastoral care is exceptional as are the facilities etc. They also offer flexi-boarding. Good luck, I hope you find a lovely school.

I'd be very happy to help you narrow down your shortlist. Other people have also pointed out something that is key - what GCSEs are you wanting to do and if a school has a standard intake at year 10. Some don't and then you are looking for what is called an "occasional place" which can be harder to get. Good pastoral care is also very subjective. Send me a PM and we can chat more!

Are you an advisor or agent @SchoolsMum? It’s rather strange to encourage a child to pm you.

Francis Holland SW1 has great pastoral care. Add it to your list! Great sport too! My daughter is thriving there. Also have friends with kids at Claremont and they all love it! Great sports and can stretch academically too.

That’s a really varied list of schools so it depends what you’re looking for.

however, I used to work at Queen’s College and can tell you that the pastoral care is the best I’ve seen across the many schools I’ve worked at.

FH I don’t know the school but I do know the head, and I would therefore not send my own child there.

The more I learn, I am less in favour in QCL. The reliance on unqualified staff and gap-year students to deliver instruction raises serious concerns about educational quality.

Thank you for all your help to everyone. I’ve done so many exams.

I didn’t get in to NHEHS but I got into st Augustine’s priory and many others.

turns out I may most likely be moving country, so I may have to turn a lot of my offers down. I am honestly so lucky that I applied to schools because turns out my school is really struggling and will be downsizing and merging both junior and senior in the same building. Over 3/4 of the year are planning to leave and didn’t put in a notice until now so we really dodged a bullet here!

I really don’t mind the type of school I go to as long as it has a good mixture of academics and pastoral care.

again, thank you to all who are helping here!

How about King’s Ely? Flexible boarding, beautiful location, just over an hour back to King’s Cross, fab music provision and great pastoral care
