I am looking for parents with recent experiences of Stowe. I know that historically it didn't have a great reputation but these days it is much better. I know that it is basically now a day, flexi and weekly boarding school (with a few full boarders in some houses), and it is pretty much 50:50 girls/boys; but I was interested in whether it would be a good school for a boy (13+) who is sporty (not elite performance level but holds his own in a variety of sports - mainly cricket and racquet sports), middle of the row academics, quite arty and likes design/technology, BUT definitely needs oodles of enthusiasm and pushing to do things?
I am a bit concerned that the 'perceived' quite relaxed approach to things may result in him slipping through the gaps and not reaching his potential on some fronts (be it, academic, sport, personal development etc) and getting the most out of the amazing facilities the school offers.
Am I being unfair and my perception is wrong?
Any thoughts welcome.
Many thanks
