As I’m exploring schools and residential areas, I’m looking to understand if this is a feasible option and if some mums are doing this?

Oh ok. I'm sure plenty of people do that then, it's not that far.

Check out the Foundation School Coach routes, it will show you where pupils come from.
But to answer your Q, I have DC at two of the schools you listed and we are thinking about moving to Beckenham Junction / Bromley, and I know they have classmates living there.

Yes, at Bickley you see boys getting on the train for Dulwich College and some parents with tiny children going to West Dulwich for the preps such as Rosemead and Oakfield, however, lots stay local at Bickley Park, Bromley High and St Christopher’s The Hall. Some also go to Eltham College or Colfe’s. I notice quite a lot of the pupils at Kingsdale (state) travel from / to Beckenham Junction.

Just to add, Alleyn’s is the winner of co-ed independent school of the year for 2025.

Hi, yes this is very much a done thing - even nearly 40 years ago, about 20% of my class at primary school in Beckenham went to Dulwich/JAGS/Alleyns. It’s an easy commute on the train line from Orpington to Victoria.

The commute there was easier that for those of us who went the other way to Newstead and St Olave’s (which was a pretty easy journey in itself).

Slothey · 30/11/2025 07:01

Yup, lots do that even for the pre preps

we have boys attending DC, very easy from Beckenham just 3 stops to West Dulwich 12min journey. School bus route stops in the area also.
