Can anyone help-

My DS is bright, plays rugby . We live in between the two schools but no idea which to pick.

Does anyone have any experience of them both please or insights ? Currently at a small prep school.

thanks ☺️

Has he been offered places at both?

Seriously, try the journey from your house to both in rush hour in the morning/evening. Pick the one with the least awful traffic. Depending on where you live, what looks like a short commute on a map may turn out to be horrific.

Yes

The ring road is an absolute ball ache at rush hour at the Leeds end of that journey.

As pp suggest, try doing it a few times. Depending where you are on the route it might be a much shorter time to one than the other.

Bradford Grammar has a (much hidden) gang problem. I would be observing what happens outside each school for a few days before making a decision

Have you looked at Ermysteads and Woodhouse Grove as well?

I have heard the GSAL is very cliquey, interestingly not heard that about Bradford @pottylollybut good to know.

Has it- this is what we’re trying to work out . The school seemed lovely but it’s not in the nicest area.

Yes we loved woodhouse grove but heard it’s not for the academic side as much?

@Whichone1that’s probably right about Woodhouse but I know plenty of people that have had happy kids there. To be fair that could be said in a lot of places.

Yes I wish I could wave a wand- I just want him to be happy! Grades will come if he’s happy and has friends. It’s so tough to choose

I have knowledge of both schools and each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Why are you wanting to move schools? It really depends on what you are looking for.

I haven't heard this before from anyone- can you share a bit more about this and how you know this is the case?

Iguessicoulddothat · 13/11/2025 09:29

Colleagues children seem to be having a brilliant time at GSAL, the children I know are more academic than sporty so not too sure about the sporting side. Not close enough to Bradford to comment.
