Experiences of S Anselm’s in Bakewell

Hello, just wondering whether anyone had any recent experiences of S Anselm’s? We have been to look around and were pleased with what we saw but I’m conscious it’s been an unsettled few years for them and with our children being so young slightly worried about a closure before they get through the school

I have sent you a more direct message but for the benefit of anyone else interested:

As a current parent, I am very comfortable that the school is here for the long-term.

With the new trustees and governors in place, who all have different, relevant experience to run the school as a successful business and a solid, sustainable business plan, we are confident the school will go from strength to strength.

One of the main changes has been to lower the fee structure and open up to more people.

There are financial backers in the background who will provide financial support as needed in case there are any financial blips along the way. The backers have a clear goal that the school should be here ‘forever’ and ‘for everyone’, making bursaries and funded places available so attendance can be more far-reaching.

We feel incredibly blessed that the school is here to stay - for ourselves and for others to experience now and in the future. It is a uniquely special school.

We could not have dreamt of a better educational start. S Anselm’s is truly outstanding and in a league of its own.

The passion from the staff - teaching and wider support staff - is incredible and the school community as a whole is a wonderful thing to be part of.
(A parent from a visiting school for a sports fixture picked up on it after her numerous visits over the years for sports fixtures. I felt very proud of our school that she had noticed and commented).

The teachers are so inspiring and really bring out the best in every child. The pupils are regularly offered fantastic experiences to consolidate their learning; we’ve had two local school trips within the space of a few weeks and the children haven’t stopped talking about what they are learning.

The curriculum is varied and broad, engaging the children in so many ways. It’s such a joy to hear the enthusiasm from the children and know they are getting the best opportunity for developing a lifelong love of learning.

Sport is a big part of the timetable but not in a pressured way. Children of all abilities love the games lessons and get to be involved in everything. The many sports on offer mean there is something for everyone and the children benefit from sporting fixtures with other schools.

The after school club options available are a working parents’ dream…many sports, STEM, pottery, art, homework club for the little ones and as they get older, more variety of options. The children don’t want to leave school to come home!

It truly is an incredibly special school. I hope you get the opportunity to find out.
