Hello all

I would be super grateful if anyone could give their opinion about the new MHV merged school.. How is it on academics? And is it nurturing? I understand it has a new head and a lot of new staff and children - is it possible to give a view yet?

Also, how does it compare to St Ronan's?? I understand a few families have moved from MHV to SR..

Really grateful for any views...

xx

Bumping as I’d like to know the answer to this too. The head was the Marlborough House head though wasn’t he, so not new?

Yes - it's the MH head, but new to the VH site/parents...

Is there any more insight into St Ronan’s? We would prefer a more academically stretching prep.

We are currently very happy at our Tonbridge prep, but have just put in an offer on a house much, much closer to St Ronan’s, which also works well for secondary options for our eldest.

We did not like Holmewood when looking at Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells preps, as the academics seemed more of an afterthought. I am now slightly worried that the quirky element at St Ronan’s might mean it is similar in this respect.

I am hoping that St Ronan’s is academically stretching in a similar way to New Beacon, Hilden Grange and Somerhill, and that the quirky element mentioned is more about being a little old school and having its own traditions. A traditional prep is really what we are after, rather than something too alternative.

Otherwise, I will just have to accept the drive!
