our DD is currently in Year 6 and has a strong interest and aptitude in drama/performing art . She holds an excellent reference from her drama teacher and is among the top academic performers in her cohort. We live in South London and are seeking guidance on schools that can support and develop her drama talent and helping with drama opportunities while also decent focus on academics...do we have school like these ?

You do tend to sacrifice academics at PA orientated schools. Are you looking for day schools?Arts Ed perhaps or likes of Woldingham, Trinity and Epsom have strong drama departments. Hurtwood House for sixth form.

Yes was going to say - do you want a nice academic level as well?

bizzzeemom · 21/09/2025 23:15

yes, academics are important , as drama careers are too unpredictable and need a backup plan

If really smart, SPGS has an amazing drama offering. They have two theatres and put on several plays and a musical every year (some with the boys' school) plus a ton of student-directed productions as well. Production values are very high. There's a (professional) director in residence each year and opportunities to take part in playwriting, technical theatre and directing. Plus obviously academics are very good. Also lots of singing opportunities if your daughter is that way inclined.

Hurtwood House for sixth form, excellent acting programme and good academics. Got the most ever entries to drama schools this year. The most expensive school in the country though!

Sounds like a clear St Paul’s girls candidate,
Oundle would also definitely suit.

easternenergizer · 22/09/2025 14:30

Alleyn’s too
