We are considering these school for DD who is currently finishing year 5.

She’s very bright & musical too. I am
confident she will pass the exams for all three based on current predictions etc from her tutor. Currently at a state primary.

I would like to know how others find these schools? I’m particularly interested in Stockport Grammar experience for very bright kids? She would prefer mixed which is why that’s on the list.

Anyone keen to share experiences?

My very bright DS is currently at Stockport Grammar and absolutely thriving. We chose it as we wanted a mixed school and also somewhere with more of a ‘whole child’ focus. There are plenty of very academically able kids as it’s a big school and DS is definitely being stretched but he loves going to school every day. The music department is also outstanding.

I was at Withington many years ago. I don’t know anyone with more recent experience. It was very academically pressured and not particularly nurturing, to put it mildly. I still think of a B as a failure even now…

I know a few people with kids at Man High and they seem happy with it.

Stockport Grammar seems the best at the moment for stretching and nurturing, certainly better than the other two.

Has anybody got any tips or advice about the interview at Stockport Grammar?
