Hi parents, I am looking for some info on these schools if anyone is willing to share please? We have assessment days booked for both, and I am erring towards one over the other, but for different children! I have 2 kids (Y1 and Y3) and I think they would each suit different schools, but that won't be possible due to logistics.

Also any insights on how the assessment days are run? I know it's English, Maths and creative writing.. but is it very hard? they have had no tutoring or prep for the assessment.
Thanks a lot!

Good luck, I have kids in school very local to both-

A lot of my daughter's team mates are in St George's, if your children are sporty its a great choice. I don't think that Claremont is as sports-oriented. CM used to take a lot of SEND kids- not sure about now tho.

Thank you! My son is very sporty - I think at George’s will be a good fit for him. My daughter less sporty and needs a slower learning pace, so she’d suit Claremont better. I’m torn!

any other snippets of info from anyone local or current parents?

I’m afraid I too don’t have first hand experience, but have friends/family with children at both schools are mine at also at local schools. I wouldn’t say St George’s is known for being much more academic than Claremont now so I wouldn’t split them based on that. Have you considered any other schools? Do you want all through?

Re Claremont - A level results are now on a par with St George’s. The head has been there about 5 years now and it has changed substantially - not necessarily on this thread, but there are quite a few outdated opinions on Claremont on mumsnet, so take some of the things you read with a pinch of salt
