DEI initiatives in primary schools

Is anyone able to speak to their experiences of having kids at primary schools which have a big focus on DEI as an initiative?

We are looking for a school and on our shortlist is one that wants to position itself as a DEI champion school and is working towards this goal. I'm interested in how this may manifest in practice, as it's not yet clear.

Many thanks.

Why, out of interest?

DD attended a very diverse school (London), they did an international evening every year but as far as I know they didn’t have anything formally DEI going on - it just was diverse and everyone cracked on.

I’m not sure what this would look like.

some secondaries (mine included) were stonewall champions but very few are now as stonewall are pretty discredited.

I don’t know but I can only see it as a good thing. What do your school say it means?

Bad DEI (and there’s plenty of it about) is never a good thing.

A school that markets itself as having a big focus on DEI is a bit like a man who keeps talking about how much of a “good guy “ he is. It’s a big red flag.
