Moved to Cambridge recently and looking for an all rounded prep school for my child. I would be so grateful if you could provide some insight on your view on this subject. I have already done a visit to the schools and now more keen to hear from others.

All are excellent schools with good reputations. Can you get to all of them easily? Cambridge traffic is notoriously bad so that does make a difference! Do you have any idea which senior school you’d be aiming for as that also could make a difference?

@wasiu happy to advise - I have direct experience of two of these schools having put three DCs through. Very variable experiences.

Not sure how academically ambitious you are for your children, but the reality of these schools academic value-add is not strong. In my experience a significant proportion of Y4-8 receive private tutoring to address the gaps left by patchy and outdated teaching methods at school.

If you want some advice please PM me and I’ll happily feedback my experiences.

Where will you be living? As a pp said, traffic and school run routes may be the decider. A 10-minute journey in Cambridge can easily turn into 40 minutes to an hour at school run times of the day. The main roads in and out of Cambridge to the south and west can take up to an hour in bumper-to-bumper traffic just to leave the city at any time between 4 and 6pm.
