Do schools accept used toys/learning aids?

Our school have a summer fair next week and I have been looking for stuff for the stalls.
I have got a huge amount of toys/learning aids that I used for my daughter's early intervention programme (asd)
Now I don't mind handing them over to the stalls but they will sell for pennies and they are pretty valuable resources so was going to offer the school's foundation unit the opportunity to pick out what they fancied first.
Trouble is I don't know if school will accept second hand even if they are as new. So any teachers around to tell me if their school would take them?

I've donated general books and games before, i've always asked first (in case they are short of space) and always say to pass anything onto the PTA if they cant use it for the next fair etc.

I'm sure they'll be grateful, schools are always budgeting after all!

I always donate toys to the school as long as they're in mint condition and are complete sets.

So, still sorting here and embarrassed by the huge amount I have (they'll think dd spoilt) so think I might thin it out a bit before offering it to school.So what sort of things would be useful to schools. I have construction toys (stickle bricks, duplo,polydrons),small world , puzzles, games (lots by orchard toys) Brio train sets,animal and dinosaur figures etc

BTM I'm in the Midlands. If dd's school don't want it and you could collect then I'll contact you if that's ok?

At school fairs, the teachers cherry-pick for their class, curriculum area and the school the day before the fair starts.
I'm sure the school would be delighted.

Daren't start on the books one of dd's obsessions so a huge amount of them. So much so the foundation teacher used to ask me to lend them the books they were needing rather than having to buy them and am embarrassed to say I could fulfil every request.

We live in ahouse with over 5,000 boks. We understand obsession, truly!

I think I was typing with my eyes shut...off to get more coffee.

Goblinchild sounds like we are kindred spirits I think dd got her book obsession from me as we vie for bookshelf space.I know if I got rid of some we would be shopping for more to fill the gaps before the others had sold.

What about getting your DD to start a lending library - maybe she'd like sorting all the books and doing tickets, etc?

I should think the school would be delighted with pre-loved toys/games etc., I know I would in my classroom.

When/if you ever decide to cull the collection of picture books feel free to box them up and send them in my direction... the Y4 classroom I'll be having in September has nothing more appealing than some rubbishy copies of the Shirley Hughes 'Alfie' books I'll pay postage!
