Off school for toothache?

Dd1 is going to be trying this one very shortly. She has a rather sore looking ulcer. Probably because she has been pulling and poking at a very small ulcer insisting she needs medicine, for the last week.

She hasn't asked to be off school. But I know it's coming. So far she has told me the ulcer is making her feel sick (I don't believe this) She needs Calpol and Bonjela, she cannot possibly eat anything (I don't believe this bit either).

She is crying but I am certain that is because I have told her she has to go to school and not because of pain.

I don't want her to be off school. We are going on holiday on Wednesday, so she doesn't have long left there this year.

I am a mean, cruel mummy aren't I?

We have a strict policy of "if you can stand up, you are well enough for school". Can she standing up?

Seriously though mouth ulcers do hurt, DS gets some terrible ones. Would the school be willing to give her another dose of Calpol at lunchtime and can she put the Bonjela on herself?

Also, an orthdonist once told me that Ibruprofen is much better for any type of dental pain.

Yes she can stand up and play with hula hoops and dress her sister despite being told to leave her alone.

She is still telling em I am being cruel and she will tell her teacher when she gets to school how much pain she is in and how sick she feels.

Let her tell the teacher then. Emotional blackmail doesn't tend to work on me.

I can just imagine phoning my boss to say I wasn't coming in because I had a mouth ulcer.

Send her in. Once she is with her friends she will probably forget about it for most of the day anyway.
