DS bitten at school

I wanted to gain opninions on how your school reports accidents really...

DS (4yrs old), came home today with a bite mark on his arm. The skin had been broken in 4 places and brusing. There was no dressing.

No one at school had told me about the injury which happened in the playground, there was no letter in his book bag.

When we were home he seemed quiet and showed me his arm. I am now concerned that this was not reported and would appreciate suggestions of approach.

Does the school know about the bite? You would be amazed how many young children fail to say anything until they get home.

I had a child bite another this week and I spoke to both parents separately about it at home time.

We would normally get a yellow slip with details of the injury, but very few details on how it was 'obtained'
Did DS tell his teachers?

I would ask if it has been put in the accident book and if not insist that it is and that you see it.

Yes, school knew about the bite. He cried when it happened and told the assistant on playground duty. Somehow, it stopped there

A bite which broke skin should have been noted, and explained to you. Is your son worried about whoever did it/ why it happened? Is there a chance it's an on-going problem with that child? I'd mention it to his teacher regardless, as maybe they weren't told by the playground staff. If they weren't, they should have been.
