Just wondering if I should mention this to Y2 teacher next Sept?

DD, young for year, has finished Y1 with a 2C in her reading/english. She's been reading around level 7/8 ORT and has fairly good comprehension I think. She's in one of the lower groups for reading and to be honest I didn't think it strong.

I've never paid much attention to levels etc but my mother, in her wisdom, has bought her a pack (?) of treetops (?) chapter books level 12. She read one to me last night, fairly fluently, could make good predictions, infer from text and so on. Very solid comprehension I'd say. She read the others last week and I didn't think anything of it.

Presumably she'll be assessed again at the start of next year? Just wondering if she's capable of more than I and they had realised?

If her school is anything like my dcs she will be assessed constantly.
There are many different ways that they are assessed, it may just be a time thing that she was a really solid 2c but they couldn't do more with her or it could have been that she wasn't interested in the piece that they tested her on.
Sometimes some text is more difficult to read and comprehend, not because of the words but the writing style and the subject but the method of levelling the text would place it at that level.
My dcs school doesn't strictly follow the ORT/treetop and other reading scheme levels they assess the books themselves individually so what could be ORT level 7 might be the same as treetops 12 or vice versa.
Make sure she is enjoying her reading and progressing but don't get hung up on what level she is at.
