I am moving my daughter from village school to a prep school in a nearby town and we have been for various settling in sessions. Staff and other parents at the new school seem very friendly, except, bizarrely, the parents from my own village, most of whom I know a litte. If I were in their situation I think I would make an effort to welcome the newcomer from their own village, but they make no effort at all and one has completely stopped talking to me although our younger children go to the same preschool. It is odd. Do you think it is because my daughter started at a state school? don't know what to think but it's very odd

Sounds odd. Guess you'll have to jump in and make the first moves.

Take the bull by the horns and have an open house coffee morning or similar. Be as lovely as you sound and then see what happens. Good luck.
