Ds not starting reception with his preschool friends - OK?

My son is starting school soon. A handful of kids from his preschool are going to be in the same year, but they've all been allocated to one class, while he's in the other. I'm not sure how he's going to feel about this - has anyone had experience of it? Somehow might feel worse to be apart from his friends but in the same year than not to be at the same school as them at all? Thoughts welcome!

Both my DC ended up in different classes to their pre-school friends. To be honest, I think it bothered me more than them. They made new friends quickly and easily, whereas it took me ages to get to know the new mums!

Try not to worry, they will make friends with their new class mates and play with old friends at break/lunch time.

Thanks LostArt - nice to hear! Will just keep it very light with ds, and emphasise the playtime thing if he is bothered...
