I am looking at schools for my Child and I am looking at the schools closest to our house, I have the prospectus on a school that I would like but I am new to this and I am not sure how important the Prospetus is to the school because the school sounds great... So again I really need to know how important is the Prospetus to schools?

You need to visit, meet the head, staff observe children and view examples fo work and activities. Talk to those with older children but form your own first hand opinion. The prospectus is always ging to highight the strengths and selected images as it is a sales pitch after all!

I think it very much depends upon the prospectus - some schools will pay thousands to have them created, produced, photographs taken etc. by professionals, others will cobble together various bits and bobs written by various members of staff. I'm a teacher who is currently producing my school's prospectus and it is somewhere between the two - no hard sell or jargon from me because I know I'd be put off by it likewise staged shots. I teach all the children I've photographed for our prospectus and the photos reflect that.

The best way to find out about a school is to go and see it first hand during the school day but also at the beginning/end of day. Lots of schools are having summer fairs and sports days at the moment and they give a different impression about a school too.
