January Reception starters and uniform

DD is summer born and will be starting reception in January 2011. I'm wondering whether it will be better to start stocking up on uniform now whilst all the offers are on or wait until Christmas time when they will not be the offers on but I can get a better fit. Also DD is big for her age (5-6 or 6-7 clothes) and I'm wondering if there will not be much in stock in the bigger sizes around December.

Obviously I will leave her shoes until last minute, but what do you think about the rest?

My DD was a January starter and there was certainly much less of it around but I did get it in M&S. They stock all sizes up to age 16, so I don't think you will have a problem,!!! But you may have to order it in. Our uniform was navy pinafores and they seemed to be fairly uncommon.

I do think the offers had ended though.

Thanks RBOTP, will bear M&S in mind. I'm just hyperventilating at the prospect of Xmas and uniform shopping in one go!

I think I did mine in October time, and you could buy some online, there is Next as an option too. The actual shops aren't really geared up for non September starters or even those of us who have to buy mid year. DS shredded all of his trousers last year and I needed to get more mid year and there was very little choice.

Do you know how to get any stuff with your school logo on? I know we just have an order form on the school website that we down load and send into the school office.

Have a gin and don't worry

Thankfully only have to get polos and sweatshirts with logos on and that is local school uniform shop, everything else is generic grey stuff. I don't fancy paying £15 a go for those from the proper uniform shop though, especially as DD is not the neatest and daintiest girl in the world, I have to buy her jeans with reinforced knees. Maybe worth getting some skirts - that will teach her not to surf down hills on her knees....

I forgot about Next, I have a catalogue and didn't even realise they did uniform!

I'll knock back the gin though....cheers!

My DS was a January starter - I bought mine in November/December online from M&S. Sometimes they're out of stock of something, but generally its OK and saves you having to traipse into town with all the Xmas shoppers!
