No easy finish to year two

Was really happy to discover that dd's school are continuing to run the extension groups right until the end of year rather than up until the end of SATs as I had experienced at a previous school.
Any other schools do the same?

If by the same you mean working until we break up I will be keeping my class working as usual and running before school support

We're working full on too! Wouldn't know what to do the little buggers otherwise!

I've heard one parent complain that the school had been giving her dd lots and lots of extra Maths classes (after school and over lunch) on the run up to her KS2 Sats and once the Sats ended, her dd has barely had anyone at school mention a number to her - which is a big worry because this girl is very waek at the subject...still as long as the school get her a level 4 in her Maths Sats they've done a great job teaching her haven't they?

Yes lots of work and no real slow down planned. Dd will be much happier as will I because she enjoys the work and finds the "fun" not much fun tbh and comes home grumpy.

Working right to the end here too. We include a few more trips and visits in the last couple of weeks, and of course, there's sports day, but apart from that, it's business as usual.

DD has done PE all afternoon every afternoon for the last 3 or so weeks and will continue to do so. COlouring in, really easy maths and a world cup flag project is what they do in the morning - yup you guessed it, yr6, sats done, they all know where they are going to secondary school.

Part of the reason the Y6 maths and english extra lunchtime/after school sessions don't continue is because the funding is provided for them until SATS. I don't agree with the complete halt that some Y6s experience, and think they are far better behaved if kept working and in some familiar routine, however, I know in some schools all the 'disruptive' stuff comes after SATS - cycling proficiency, sex ed, residential camp, sports day, etc so there isn't much chance to keep in a routine.

Our Y6 extra lunchtime English sessions are still taking place and will up until the last week of term when some children are off on a residential visit. We don't get any extra funding to run these at any time so they are done on teacher goodwill.
