School Meals & absence

Can I ask what the policy is for this at your school?
If your child is off school and you've let the school know they are going to be off, are you still liable for the cost of their school meal?

yes, you are liable because our school order the ingredients in per term according to menu choices, so they have an outlay to cover. However, if your child is off for a significant amount of time I think they might refund you. Not sure though.

I think it is the norm for most schools.

For school trips etc they deduct it from the next invoice.

You are at our school, if the class go on a day trip, the kitchen provide a packed lunch.

No. If your child is off and you have let them know you don't pay for the meal.

Furball · 17/06/2010 08:10

Our meals are not made on site so the numbers wanting lunchs are emailed through each morning.

If you are away you credit the meal until the next week.

No show = no charge at DC's primary school

asdx2 · 17/06/2010 09:05

We don't pay either if the child isn't in school.

No charge here if they aren't there to eat it. Similarly they can choose to take a packed lunch on any day if they wish & then are only charged the days they eat a school meal.

We get a credit if you are absent, or go on a trip or something which was arranged after you have paid on the Monday.
It just gets carried forward for you to use when you want, or take it off the following week's bill.
It is £2.10 per day, so glad there is credit

No charge if a child misses school. If you've already paid then the cost is deducted from the following week.
