Worthing Schools

I have had some great feedback from all the lovely Worthing resident mumsnetters before, now I'm hoping someone can help me again!
I am relocating to Worthing and the catchment area of my new address is for Downsbrook Middle School. The OFSTED report is awful. Does anyone have any direct knowledge of this school? Is it as bad as it looks on paper?
What about other schools close by?
My dd will be in year 6 and it is a rental property so could just be in the school for 6 months if necessary

Shameless bump, sorry but I'm desparate!

I'm not local but a friend is delighted with Thomas a Becket middle school - I don't know how far that is from you, though. Good luck.

Thomas a becket has rave reviews but I have a horrible feeling I'm not in catchment. If I am I too will be delighted!

Do you go to church as Broadwater c of e is supposed to be very good.TAB is a very big school so they may well have a place anyway.

hatingmyjob · 09/06/2010 22:13

I have always heard rave reviews of Broadwater C of E and it is about 200 yards from where I work!!!! (Irrelevant!)

TAB is very popular but I have heard mixed reviews. It has always been "the" school to get your DCs into, to the extent that estate agents often use it as a seling point "in TAB catchment"

Such a shame you aren't further my way, I am over the moon with DDs school but we are in Goring (sorry, most unhelpful).

A work friend has a DD in y5 at Downsbrook - I'll ask her tomorrow and come back to this thread.

How exciting - Never hear/see Worthing on here much! When are you coming? Are you coming from far away?

(Stalker emoticon!!)

thornrose · 09/06/2010 22:21

totally - we're not church goers sadly as I agree the Broadwater school looks fab.
I'm coming from London and will have NO friends in Worthing so careful "stalker" I may be in touch
First hand info on Downsbrook would be great as they actually have a space. My daughter is SEN and it's more about happiness and enjoyment rather than "results" for now.
I'm coming at the end of July and I can't wait.

Well hopefully the sun will be out when you arrive and you'll see the town at it's best.

Have just emailed myself to remind me to ask tomorrow!

May see you around!

thornrose · 09/06/2010 22:29

I've seen it rain and shine and loved both. OFSTED report was a couple of years old and as is often the case they have a new and shiny head to "shake things up".
Thanks so much can't wait to hear, will check in tomorrow.

Well now I look like a stalker AND a plonker! Friends DD goes to Chesswood, not Downsbook! Sorry - no help atall.

Feel free to look me up when you get here - if you can't find me, I may be back under my old posting name - bradsmissus.

Good luck with the move.

thornrose · 10/06/2010 19:08

Aw never mind, I've re-read the OFSTED report and actually it doesn't sound as bad as I first thought. I think we'll just go for it and see what happens.
Thanks for the offer, I may pick your brains at some point, especially when it comes to areas that are nice to live once we're actually buying!!
Thanks again
