Can write a sentence but can't read it back

I have noticed that my 5 (nearly 6) year old daughter can think of, and write down a sentence very well, but then can't read it back to me, even though she literally just wrote it down. Is this normal?

Yes.

Try encouraging her to rehearse her sentence out loud a few times before writing it, using her fingers to count the words.
