I live in stoke newington - close to William Patten which was my first choice. I didn't get into any of my chosen schools. These are the alternatives they gave me. does anyone have any experience of any of them?

randal cremer ofsted report, doesnt sound that bad. My son got a place there. My first choice was Queensbridge. Reading the report I think that RC may be better.

I hope that this helps you.

Thanks

How far are you from the school in eg .29 miles
because i was also refused a space in stoke newington and I am .14 miles from my first choice and .21miles from my second choice and .47miles from my third and i got no offer either. From the list we have been given ( SAME AS YOU) it is a hard choice of what to choose if you read the ofstead reports of most of these schools it will bring you to tears. randal cremer is the best one it seems but there are only 4 places available so I don't know if it goes by distance or not but if it does it is 1.67 miles from me so i have no chance.
i wish you all the luck in the world dealing with this nightmare.

i was panicking as Whitmore is really close to us too, and this one is really horrible.

I was talking to my son's nursery teacher and she told me not to worry and keep my son in the waiting list as in hackney loads of children change schools all year round. She also says that in reception is difficult to find a place at your preferred school but later on is easier.

Hi there

William patten is 0.25 miles from us - we were in the catchment area two years in a row previously. Randal Cremer is 1.7 so no chance there. Someone told me St Matthias isn't all that bad and if all parents in the same boat aimed for one school it might make a difference. I'm contacting learning trust tomorrow to find out waiting list situation. I read on this forum that we can now enter other schools waiting lists, even schools we didn't originally put on the top 3?

I'm still in shock. Good luck you too..

do you need to be a catholic to apply to st Mattias ?

annehilde · 03/05/2010 13:09

I don't know if you have to be religious or not for st matthias. we're not - and ds is not baptised. I'll try and find out their criteria.

Hi i just spoke to my friend whose son started at william patten in jan and she lives .27 miles from the school and she said she has said the waiting list can at times move quickly. If anything you should be at the top of the waiting list due to your proximity to the school. I read the ofsted report for st matthias and it seems alright but I think we might be a bit far, but for you it might be close enough.

annehilde · 03/05/2010 16:41

Thanks for that, that's very reassuring that your friend got in in last uptake. But know at least 2 people who are even closer than me who also didn't get in this year..

Hi annehilde hope you got through to the learning trust today to get some info on your situation. I found out you do not need to have any church association to get into st matthias because there are spaces available and those are allocated by the distance to your address by the learning trust.
good luck with everything
