slightly further away school with better results?

School A- Bad results but now under new management with visibly better discipline (don't know about anything else)
All fiends are going there
Can walk to this one

School B- Consistently better results
All new faces in class
Will need to drive there

So which one should it be (for reception)???
Thanks...

I'd avoid the one with the fiends in.

Have you been to have a look at them both? A school on the way up can be a good place to be, but you need to see for yourself.

blametheparents · 21/04/2010 21:26

Would you def get into both?

HAve you visited School A. Big part of decision depends on how YOU feel about the school, not about league tables etc.

and that was supposed to be friends.
lol... would have avoided if I knew all fiends were going there!!

Sorry, open goal... Knew what you meant.

Go and visit both schools. You will get a feel for the places and hopefully will come away with a clearer idea of where would be best for your child.

Dd used to go to school A - the crappy one. There was a lot of shouting going on and not a very good atmosphere. She is now going to a special school but when she was there she had constant 1:1 so it was a different scene for her.
However, with the new management, they haven't taken on all teachers and the one I heard shouting the loudest has gone so I'm hoping it's better. Def the kids look much better when leaving school - more disciplined and actually 'wearing' their uniforms!

DS has actually got into School B (the league table one). But now I am having second thoughts about it because of the distance and his friends. I live quite close to school A so think he would def get in there. Am going to put him on the wait list for this school but still not decided about which to prefer.

Hiya
I would always lean towards the local, walking distance, nice friends one myself, especially if it is on its way 'up'

My mum was sent away to a better school 3 trains away and hated it. She did the same to us for Primary & then realised and put us into the local school and we were so much happier for it

Thanks everyone.
