Movement on waiting lists

Hello

My son has been offered our 2nd choice school and I have accepted the place. Having called the education board I have found out he is 3rd on the waiting list for our 1st choice school. It is a 4-form entry school (120 places) so am thinking there is bound to be some movement as we live in a city and he may get in!?!?

What do you think? It would make my life so much easier but don't want to get my hopes up!

I think your chances are good too. After all, amongst 120 children it's pretty likely that three will accept other offers/move away/join a private school before September.

The only other fly in the ointment is if there is an influx of children who are higher up the admissions criteria than your child, so that you drop down the list.

Thanks for your replies.

Zapostophe - Yes we have accepted the 2nd choice and will remain on the waiting list for our 1st choice!

I have called our LEA today and he has moved to 5th due to late applications! Oh well what will be will be!!

5th in a school that takes 120 pupils a year is a lot better odds than many other schools, so hang in there and hopefully over the next 4 months you will get a place.

My daughter was 33rd on a list for a 20 intake class. And we got in. I really don't know how!
