next monday we should know.
Im kind of not fussed. I put down 3 choices. all offstead reports where much the same. i live on the same road as one of the schools and having spoken to a lot of teachers about it all i have decided that as long as the school is good enough then it will all be ok.
However i have friends who are quite literally getting very very stressed about it all. VERY STRESSED. some have already started writing appeal letters and are saying their children wont be allowed to go anywhere else.
Now one shcool they have put now is maybe a tiny tiny bit better. but not by huge amounts. It is only primary.

Or am i just being a terrible parent?

You are lucky...if DD doesn't get one of her 3 schools (tbh happy if she gets any one of these but far from certain that she will get any because we are on the edge of each catchment area) the one she will be offered is dreadful so yes I'm stressed. We don't find out until the 29th.

No you are not being a terrible parent, just a realistic and sensible one.

Those parents who are already writing appeal letters even though they do not know what school they have been allocated are either not sensible, in chosing schools that were never an option or are potentially putting an intolerable burden on their child by transfering their anxiety.

shoptildrop - you are lucky that you have 3 fairly good choices as you say you do - our options are either one of the best in the area - (in our catchment but oversubscribed and we are towards the edge of the border of catchment and often on the waiting list part of the area) or one of the worst schools in the area ......if there were three choices which were all pretty ok, I wouldn't be fussed but for us if he doesn't ultimately get the catchment school we're looking to fund private.

And, yes I'm stressed and anxious about it. Partly as well because I work so if we don't get in on the first cut but then have to go on a waiting list, I have to sort out childcare for the 2 days I work - it's not easy round here - and the school has no after school club. So regardless of which school he goes to - I have other factors dictating my anxiety.....

I've not discussed schools with DS yet - he's young for his year (July) so if necessary I'll keep him nursery and pre-school til January whilst we sort out the best option for him. I don't want to muck him around so would rather continue with what he knows than move him around unnecessarily.....

Good luck anyway !
