West Ewell/Epsom area

We've recently moved here, so I am in the process of looking for schools, my DS is at a private nursery at the moment but in terms of state school does anyone know anything about Riverview CofE primary school? It seems to have a good Ofsted report but it would be nice to get a parents opinion on the school. My fav at the moment looks like Nonsuch but I hear its very over subscribed.

Nonsuch is Yr 7 upwards and has rigorous selection and catchment rules. Sorry don't know about primary.

There is a Nonsuch Primary - but it is, I think, London Borough of Sutton and not Epsom and Ewell.

Yes, there is a Nonsuch Primary..and is in the Borough of Sutton which is all very odd because the school is in Stoneleigh isn't it?

WE live in that area, I had a look at Riverview and was not that impressed, it was ok but not great. West Ewell Infants is a better bet or Meadow Primary School which goes from Yr to Y6.

I thought about West Ewell, but I was concerned about it being close to/on Ruxley Lane, which I've heard isn't that nice??!?

Personally I thought it was 'nicer' than Riverview in that regard, but ring them all up and ask to look around. It was over a year ago when I did it.

I actually went to West Ewell first school as a child and have good memories of it, it was set in a lovely secluded spot (despite being off that big road) and the walk there was always an adventure through trees and the park. A friend of mine recently sent her children there and found that it was still good, esp with one of her children who had learning difficulties.

Were you concerned about the estate off Ruxley Lane? If so, unless it's changed beyond recognition, it's totally fine (my friends mother lives there). Esp compared to the inner London estates that I've encountered - idyllic in comparison!
