My daughter has been saying recenly that she is rubbish at everything. She is 5 and turning 6 in June, currently year 1. Today I then got a copy of her Maths sheet at school and the teacher put a comment that she copied from someone. I asked her and she said she had copied and she burst into tears and said that she was rubbish and she did not know the answer. The girl she copied from is the oldest girl in her class and assumed her intellect with that of my dd who was born is summer will be of course different.

Right now I am just sad and don't know what to do. I am thinking her confidence has been greatly knocked off. What can I do?

I think you should talk to your love and the teacher and let the teacher know how she feels so that they can help her gain her confidence.

Maybe more practice and extra classes like explore learning , kumon can help too in helping her get upto speed.

I'd give lots and lots of praise. Praise overload, lots of cuddles, tris to the park over Easter and then when school starts again after easter have a quie chat with her teacher letting her know the situation. Good Luck

If you're happy to let her have a liitle go on your computer visit

These are great little items for building confidence as they provide 3 answers and she has to select the correct one.
