Is anyone else worried sick about finding out primary school allocation places on 1 April??

We have listed 3 out of catchment schools for our choices. Our first choice is the third closest to us and has quite a large intake (90). All 3 choices are only 10 mins walk away but I am so worried she won't get in to any of them then we will be stuck!
COuldn't sleep last night because I was worrying about it!

I didn't even know when we find out
I've put one choice
but then her sister goes there
and she already goes to the nursery attached

she will not be going anywhere else

I thought i would post and bump for anyone wanting to add releif or commiserations.

I chose 3 out of catchment schools, with special circumstances due to my job. I know how tough they are when deciding on those special circumstance (my job and safety of DD). The first 2 schools were my preferred choice, in fact choice 2 was the best for us, closest (although in a different area) and a good school but only put in on the off chance as it is so hard to get into, a small school. and the third school is the one we thought we would get, would be happy enough with, but not ideal. If we got anything other than these 3 would be home educate until one became available (which of course would screw us up financially).

But, after than long ramble. I got in to choice 2! I have no idea how we managed it. I am presuming it was our circumstances. I am so so pleased. and so relieved i have been really really worried they would give us a bad school miles and miles away.

This time last week I was waiting for the same news, sadly we didn't get any of the schools we applied for. All 3 schools are close to me (just under 0.4 miles)If you know what the catchment requirements are, you can work it out on a distance calculator if your in the schools catchment. The schools I applied for are so close, I just assumed I was in their catchment. However, we missed the catchment line by yards and therefore got offered a place at a school 2miles away. If the schools are not in your catchment area, I would say prepare yourself as it might not be a great outcome. Goodluck

Yes, I am!! We've applied for 3 out of catchment schools too... it's been a long wait.

Where we are there are no catchment areas - the priorities are looked after children and children with statements, siblings and distance.
Although we have several schools within half a mile of our house we live in a black hole and will be lucky to get anything at all (in the whole borough). If we get a school we actually asked for it will be a miracle - even though one is 0.3 of a mile away.
It will make me cross when it happens, but not much point in worrying yet. Not much I can do for now, unfortunately.

We won't find out til May. I've put 2 out of catchment schools on the form (he will NOT be going to our catchment school) and I am really worried about whether or not he'll be offered a place. Am fully prepared to HE/ keep sending him to preschool part-time until a place becomes available though. TBH he's learning more at his preschool than he will in his first year at school as they tailor what they do to his needs and strengths far more than is possible in a class of 30.

Where are you MrsHappy? You have the same criteria list as us, and I thought that Herts were the last to find out, but you are a day or two after us.

In Bedfordshire it is end of April/beginning of May (can't remember exact date ). But as we are hopefully moving house before September I am also interested in places allocated on 1st April as that's the date for where we are moving to, and so I will know then whether there will be a place for DD in schools I have looked at and liked (and have a place for DS who will be in Year 2 in September).

Have looked and lower schools will know on 29th April, letters will be posted on 30th April and parents will be able to look online then as well. Although with DS two years ago the system didn't work so everyone had to wait for letters.

I didn't sleep last night and got the email today that dd hasn't got in I knew I would be upset but am a bit surprised at quite how gutted I feel.
She has got a place but it is a much bigger school and I was really put off by the rudeness of the headmistress when we visited.
No idea how far down the waiting list she is either, will have to wait 2 weeks until they are back from Easter holiday and then see.
Anyone know what I need to do re accepting other place (reluctantly) whilst going on waiting list?
Am really not looking forward to telling dd her cousin has got in and she hasn't (on 19 days between them) especially as it's her birthday tomorrow...

Word of advice from the wise.

If you've put down an out of catchment school, start researching what you will need to do to get your child if they've been rejected NOW. Look at the LEA guidelines. Work out who to contact re: waiting lists. You will need to move fast and be very, very persistent.
I say this because there is a very strong possibility (especially if you live in London) that you will not be automatically offered a place in an out-of-catchment school.

Ours is less than 1/4 of a mile away - 5 mins walk but not got in.
Intake is only 30 and they had 85 applications so dread to think of the waiting list!

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back on here!
We find out at midnight tonight, as long as the whole system doesn't crash with everyone logging on at the same time!
