Reading books (again sorry)

My DD year 1 has been bringing home the Ginn new 360 books on level three Is there any websites that can give me a comparison as to which ORT level this is as these Ginn ones seem harder than the ORT ones

Do your Ginn 360 books have a book band colour on them? Most recently published reading books do - If so - the book bands correspond roughly to ORT stages:
pink - ORT 1
red - ORT 2
yellow - ORT 3
blue - ORT 4
green - ORT 5
orange - ORT 6
turquoise - ORT 7
purple - ORT 8
gold - ORT 9
white - ORT 10
lime - ORT 11

What age is year 1?

Level 3 is blue as that is what ds is reading in school

Does anyone know how New way books ie Meg the hen, Pat the Pig etc fit into book bands and relate to other books?

You will need to google for the reading recovery levels for the New Way books or the NC bands and then will be able to see.

I think those ones are probably about ORT 3 or so iirc.

Year 1 is age 5 to 6 Plum.

he is flying through Mystery Mob at home and I looked them up they are age 7-8

Thank you LizzyRose, She is on level 4 ORT but the Ginn book was turquoise so thats a jump of 3 levels?
She enjoyed it though but I thought it was a big change from Biff Chip and Kipper lol

WHY do you want to know what levels your children are on? Let them enjoy the books without worrying about this!

It's completely natural to want to know at what level your child is at. I still want to know exactly where ds 14 is at re school work as well as dd 6.

Mogmum like you my DD gets a variety of reading schemes home and for easter we have some Ginn 360 green level and ORT sparrows (which seem to be level 3). Though school do say the mix up the levels of books in the boxes so that some books stretch them and some reinforce previously learnt words and develop expression.
Particularly with the holidays it is nice to know whether they are above, below or on par to give you an idea of how much reading we should try to do in the holidays. This time last year DD was below average so I made a particular effort to encourage DD to read to me and it paid off and she has now moved above average.

Why on earth would you do a rather rude to my post?? Perhaps you could give a response involving something I could answer back to.

Ginn 360 level three books are roughly green level or ORT level 4/5.
There is a slight overlap so not an exact science to matching different scheme.

Rainbow, fair point and sorry for being rude but often parents constantly wanting to know what levels their children are on is not healthy. Teachers can provide that info on parent's eves which are held at least twice a year and should be adequate. I'll say no more as there are many people who would disagree.

I've never known any parents want to know this constantly. I've never known anyone on mumsnet want this either.
