Private school attendance

Just found out that the school dc will attend has 21 weeks off in the school year. My husband and I each have 4 weeks off work so that leaves a deficit of 13 weeks at best if we never had holidays together.

What is going on here? I am foreign so am surprised by all of this.

Nanny costs us about £75 per day, then you have the costs of paying for somewhere to go, even if just day on the beach, no doubt ice creams will be wanted, which is another £10.

But to go out for the day to centres and play parks, zoo etc looking at £20-£50 per day.
