Primary schools in Clapton, east London?

I've posted this on the Hackney local site but wanted to put it here too in case I get some more responses - we are thinking of moving over to Lower Clapton - currently in E8 and DD down to go to Shacklewell Primary, but if we move over to Clapton I was wondering what schools she might go to/what catchment areas are like? Rushmore/Millfields/Daubney, etc - anyone got any experiences? Thank you!

Hopefully someone with first hand experiences will come along soon, but I live locally (DS to young for this yet) and I've remember the Guardian wrote a glowing article about the head of Millfields. So either she's great, or has good mates in the media

Here's the article about Millfield's School

A friend of mine sent her DS to Rushmore and loved it - again it was the head in particular. (Think she might have been called Mary something?) He's 17 now though so that was a while back.

Never heard anythign about Daubney.

Thanks a lot lowrib - I have heard other good things about Millfields, but I think it has changed a lot again in the years since that article was written (2006): there is a new head and it got inadequate in its last Ofsted (last year), so I am really not sure what is going on with it! That's why I would love to hear from anyone whose kids go there now ...

Oh dear, that'a a shame.

The only person I know with dc at Millfields is not at all happy atm, and I gather she's not alone.

Changes have been made in response to the Ofsted, but apparently not ones that have impacted well on individual dc's experience.

Last I heard she was planning to put her dc's names on waiting lists for other schools.

Lizzy that's very interesting you say that, my DC are at Rushmore but we were initially offered a place at Millfields for DC1 and managed to get Rushmore instead because the Learning Trust had made a mistake with calculating distances. But I know neighbours with DC at Millfields who were surprised we wanted to change (and we weren't always sure we'd done the right thing!). A few years ago Millfields seemed to be on the up and Rushmore not doing so well with temporary headteacher whereas now the situation may be reversed. Can I asked how recently you worked in the 3 schools?

Re Daubney, I do know a few parents with children there not happy with it including one teacher working at Rushmore (but not working as teacher hence can't get school place for DC).

OP I would say you do need to live closer to Rushmore to be in catchment than previously. I know one parent who has been on the waiting list since start of reception only just managed to get DC into Year 1 and they live closer than we do.
