No, the supply teacher will be qualified. Dpending on the age of the children, the upset in their routines and the fact that Ms Whoever isn't there is to be expected. My dd's teacher was off for about a month last year. She loathed the substitute one with a vengeance. He was much more strict than Ms X. They'll get over it.

They will be no more unsettled than at the start of the year, with a new teacher, but it's expected at the start of the yesr, so not so noticable.
