Queen costumes for topic?

My daughter (7) is doing famous people in the past for her topic. Her group chose Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots and my daughter volunteered me as costume maker because I have a sewing machine (nobody asked how well I could actually use it though ) I'm completely stumped! Costumes are too expensive to buy for a five min presentation and I really have no costume making skills. Does anyone know of anywhere that could help me with this. Thanks

Good Lord! That is a huge ask, I would stop my DDs pocket money if she volunteered me for something like that! The only thing that sprang to my (tired, stressed) mind was making masks somehow of the 3 queens and then sending them in in charity shop clothes eg. a black dress for Queen Vic, a dressing-up type princess dress with a nipped in waist and lots of pearls for the other two; I wonder if you could download big enough faces to perhaps laminate and tie elastic through?? Ignore me If you think that is ridiculous but I think the facial features of the 3 are more visually important than their clothes IYKWIM. Good luck.

lovecheese, that is actually a very good idea :D my next problem is trying to explain to the girls that, NO they can't have brand new dressing up clothes Am off to surf the interweb for some faces! Thanks

I have an Anne Bolyon Tudor queen dress which I would lend you for Mary Queen of Scotts. Red, velvet v lovely. Would fit a small 7 yr old.

Sorry to be away for so long, much happening away from the life of royalty!

So, one of the girls was going to be a maid to the rich...made her costume for her to tell me that she was actually going to be Queen Elizabeth II (thanks!) Donated costume to another group and revisited panic stations!!! Sat looking at a gorgeous, expensive black and gold throw that would make an ideal Queen Vic costume for a good 2 days before deciding that I would just spend the money and hire costumes! Did you know that not many places hire out costumes to kids? And those that do charge more, because kids are 'messy' I actually found a place called McMillen Stage Costume hire that would alter adult costume for kids at only 7.50 for maids and 12.50 for queens was going to take them up on the offer (but will now keep them in mind for Halloween) before one of the mums at the school (who listened to my woes) told me she worked at a bridal store and would give me bridesmaid dresses. Got a lovely blue one for a young Victoria (daughter happy as is almost exactly what Queen Vic has on in her book) and a couple of others for Mary Q of Scots and Queen E II.

So thank you for help and advice, AngryPixie, I wished I had checked back here sooner,as that would have been a lovely loan...shame was all the way up here in Glasgow Thank you for the thought anyway !!
