Hello,

We are moving to St. Albans area. Does anyone have any information on which are the best estate and independent schools? What about the catchment area?

we are flexible on the actual area and would move to the area of St. Albans (or surroundings) where the best schools are.

equally important which are the schools to avoid?

Appreciate you help, thank you.

Need to go to bed, but have you seen www.schoolguruhertfordshire.co.uk? Very useful.

The primary schools in St Albans are actually quite good so would only consider location if you're thinking ahead for secondary schools as imo there are a couple of schools it would be best to avoid.

If you are going to choose independent schools then it doesn't matter where you live.

I know a bit more about independent schools: If you have a ds and want single sex then I would suggest: St Albans High School for Girls where the infant/primary school is in Wheathampstead (nearby), there are two boys primary schools: St Columbas which is in St Albans and Aldwickbury in Harpenden. There are two mixed indepdendent schools: Manor Lodge and Beechwood.

It really depends on what you want.

Hope this helps
